Grow Into Who God Called You to Be
Discover what spiritual growth means, why it matters, and how to grow stronger in Christ through the Word and truth
Spiritual Growth: Reaching Your Full Potential in Christ
To truly walk in the fullness of what God has called you to, spiritual growth is essential. It’s not enough to grow physically or emotionally—we must grow spiritually, being transformed by the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” — 1 Peter 2:2
Why Spiritual Growth Is Non-Negotiable
Spiritual maturity is directly tied to your ability to walk in God’s promises and resist the enemy. You may pray and fast fervently, but without the knowledge of God’s Word, you’re vulnerable.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” — Hosea 4:6
Consider Eve. The fall of mankind came because Adam and Eve didn’t know how to handle the serpent’s deception. The same danger exists today—spiritual ignorance opens the door to bondage.
My Personal Journey: From Prayer Warrior to Warrior of the Word
When I first began walking with the Lord, I spent long hours in prayer—so much that I had little time for anything else. I thought that was the key. But I kept falling into deception. Why?
Because I didn’t know the Word. I was a spiritual babe.
One day, the Lord told me clearly: “Cut your prayer time and spend time in My Word.” That moment changed everything. I began to grow in understanding, and revelation poured in so heavily, I had to start EdifyMe just to offload it. I hope you don’t mind receiving it 😉
How to Grow Spiritually
Spiritual growth is intentional. Here are key ways to develop your spiritual life:
Read the Bible Daily – It’s your spiritual food.
Read sound Christian books – Choose biblically accurate, Spirit-led resources.
Attend Bible School – It’s not just for ministers; it’s for maturity.
Ask God for Wisdom and Understanding – James 1:5 encourages us to ask, and God will give generously.
Weekly, I would fast and pray, asking God to open His Word to me. He answered, and the growth was undeniable.
Apply and Teach What You Learn
“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles…” — Hebrews 5:12
Knowledge without application is useless. The Word must be lived out.
Apply what you learn in real life.
Teach others—what you teach, you retain more deeply.

Spiritual Growth Means Maturity
The Bible often uses the word “perfect” to describe spiritual maturity—not flawlessness, but being grown up in Christ.
“…for the perfecting of the saints…” — Ephesians 4:12
(This means maturing, not perfection as we define it today.)
God has given gifts—pastors, apostles, teachers—for our growth. He expects us to move from milk to meat, from babyhood to maturity.
