We must learn how to properly seek the face of God. A lot of emphasis is placed on spending hours in prayer to seek the face of God but very little is mentioned about studying His Word. If you don’t know His Word, then you have a very low chance of finding Him.
The Importance of Studying God’s Word
On your quest to seek the face of God, ensure you learn His Word, because you are bound to run into some deceiving spirits on your way there.
The devil does not want you to be in the presence of God, and the moment he realizes you are seeking after God, he is going to send deceiving spirits to lead you astray. Only the Word of God can deliver you from these spirits, but if you do not know it, you are doomed.
Man was removed from the presence of God because of sin. – Isa 59:2 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
To find back the presence of God, we need to be cleansed from our sins and live a holy life. But you can’t live a life that is pleasing to God without knowing His Word. You would be ignorant of the things that displease God. You may find yourself doing things that are keeping you from the presence of God, while trying to seek His face. That is a self-defeating position.
The Scripture is the road map to God’s Face
The Bible admonishes us to come boldly before the throne of grace to find help in time of trouble. The writer of Hebrews is suggesting that we already know how to come to God. Could it be that the presence of God is very easy to enter into, but because of our ignorance of God’s Word, we don’t know how to enter?
Ecclesiastes 10:5 – The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.
